Artisan Theater Seating:
Redefining Luxury in Home Cinemas

In 2016, when we were first introduced to the category of best-in-class theater seating, we did fairly quickly come to realize that this was very much an underserved category. We had been building dedicated theaters in the “under $65k range” for 10 plus years at that point in time and had never sold anything remotely resembling a high-quality theater chair.

Having already decided in 2016 that we were going to narrow our business focus to being completely centered around the high-end dedicated theater design+build category, it seemed perfectly logical that including quality seating would be a natural subset/supplemental element of the larger objective.

As previously mentioned, we had ZERO experience in the category, and our then perception of what the residential theater seating category looked like was no doubt similar to what everyone finds when they do their initial internet search. It’s the bottom end of the category, as simple as that, and there seems to be a ton of it out there for the consumer who wants a couple of $999 or less theater chairs and wants them right away.

Therefore, our Mission is not to rid the world of poorly built (built where?) overstuffed, black vinyl theater seats, which will inevitably have a short lifespan. Apparently, there is a genuine demand for this subset of the category and a very full field of companies looking to race each other to a zero-margin world whereby they must sell these pedestrian, unimaginative chairs by the thousands. They are more than welcome to it.

Our Mission for this website, and our business, is to create a means by which people searching the internet will find us and our offering and understand that there is something so very different from everything else they have ever seen on the internet, say nothing of in person, as pertains to the category of quality theater seating. We want them to find Artisan Theater Seating.
